Lyn Hunt Sensei has been training in the martial arts for almost 30 years. He began his training while in the military in 1974 in traditional Tae-kwon-do. After being transferred to another duty station he trained in Chinese Kempo for 2 years until his instructor was transferred. He then began his training in Shotokan and earned the rank of Nidan in 1987. After moving to Texas from Washington DC in 1989, he found a similar style, Shorin Ryu, and started training in 1992 with Bill Carroll Sensei in Grand Prairie at the O.S.A.K.I dojo. He continues his training with William Carroll's instructor, Ilene J. Smoger Sensei of the Okinawan Karate Club of Dallas. He was awarded his shodan in Shorin Ryu in 1996, his Nidan in 2001, and his Sandan in 2005 from Grandmaster Eizo Shimabukuro. Lyn also holds the rank of Sandan in Shudokan Karatedo under the late Walter Todd. Lyn also works with the karate outreach program at Trailwood United Methodist Church.
